Very long boot and weird progress bar

Hi 2 all,

Macbook early 2011.

OSX 10.6.8

I have the problem that when i start the macbook, it takes very long time to finish boot.

The strange thing is that, while booting, i see a grey progress bar in the lower side of the screen, filling very slow.

It's the kind of progress bar that you see when a firmware update is going.

But everytime i boot, i can see this progress bar and it fills slow.

I resetted PRAM and did a SMC reset ; both didn't led to the solution.

Anyone has a clue ?

Best,

Robbie

Robbie,

try the following, to see if it helps: boot your MacBook Pro from your grey Mac OS X Install DVD by holding down the C key as it starts up. When the desktop appears, select Utilities from the menu bar, and click on Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it still take a long time to finish booting?
