Where do I find Loops folder in 10.9.2

I recently changed to OSX 10.9.2 and can't find the folder that holds all of my GarageBand Loops. My computer is a MacBook Pro... Thanks for your help... Harry

all of my GarageBand Loops.

Are you asking about the loops you created or the loops that came with GarageBand?

The loops should be in the same place as for previous GarageBand versions:

GarageBand, Logic: Where loops get installed

On my Mavericks System I am seeing the loops I created in the user library in my home folder:

~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops/

And the loops that came with GarageBand in the system library folder directly on the System drive:

/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/

Hi léonie and thank you for your reply,

I went to ~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops/... Is there no longer one folder with all of my loops in it? I have over 3700 loops and if I'm seeing things correctly are they all broken up into many files?

I hope that is not the case because I have no way of knowing what loops are where! I hope I'm missing something because this couild be a nightmare without Elm Street!

BTW the only way I could find the "Library" folder was by doing a search... Where does the folder actually exhist?

Thanks so much for your help,

Harry

I think, you may be looking at the System library and not the User library. The Loops folder inside the System Library "/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/" is organized by packages. My Loops folder in the System Library looks like this:

But the "User Loops" are still one single folder inside the library.

Startin with MacOS X 10.7 (Lion) the user library has been hidden from the user and is invisibly. In MacOS X 10.9 you can make it visible again:

  • Quit GarageBand .
  • Select the "Home" folder icon (the little house) in the Finder's sidebar and press the key combination ⌘J to open the Finder "View options". Enable "Show Library Folder".
  • Then open the Home folder - you will now see the "Library" folder permanently again.
  • Open the Library folder inside and navigate to

~/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops/

Thanks léonie, that sure did it and I thank you so much for your help...

If you don't mind and I'll apologize to the forum in advance, I would really appreciate your help on one additional 10.9.2 question. With all other Mac operating systems you always had a scroll bar on the right of all applications, web pages etc. It is now gone, is there somewhere within the operation system to get the scroll bar back?

After over 20 years of having it, it is surly missed...

You are welcome, Harry.

In the "System Preferences" > "General".

Set "Show Scroll Bars" to "Always".

This will bring the scrollbars back, but not the stepping arrow tips. The arrows are gone for good.

With Mavericks, it helps a lot to connects a trackpad. Most interaction is now optimized for trackpad gestures.
