My contacts have also disappeared

All my contacts disappeared. I exported my contacts from Yahoo and tried to import them to the address book. I was prompted as to whether I wanted to replace or update all 157 contacts. So it seems that the address book still has all these contacts somewhere. I chose to update, but the contacts do not show up. What is going on?
