My brother recently switched from his iPhone, so subsequently, he no longer can receive iMessages. Since when I send him a message it defaults to iMessage, is there a way to switch it to text message without deleting our conversation?
Any help is appreciated

Not without deleting the conversation. He needs to unsubscribe from iMessage on his phone, or if he no longer has it, call Apple and ask them to deactivate iMessage on his Apple ID.

I did delete the previous conversation, however when I went to start a new one, it tried to start a new iMessage, not SMS
