I just got the Apple TV, all is good except that the Apple TV cool looking remote control is communcating not only with Apple TV but is also changing channels on my TV, a Westinghouse 39″ 120HZ 1080P LED HDTV DW39F1Y1. This happens occasionally and not always. Very annoying.
I am now using my iPhone Remote app so no remote needed but still, given the reputation of Apple this shoudl not happen.

First i've ever heard of such a problem so I would think it would be something to do with your specific TV and the frequency used to pickup the remote commands.
Well, I have a tv, a Yamaha receiver a Sony DVD all connected and each one with a remote control and none of them is cross taking or interfering. The problem appeared when Apple TV showed up so I am not sure it is the tv the problem. Moreover, when I google the issue other users have reported issues similar to this one and not only recently so this is not even a new problem.
I was specifically referring to your TV picking up the same frequency used by the Apple remote. As I said this is the first i've seen such an issue posted, can you link to similar reports?
Get a universal remote like a Logitech Harmony. Put all the other remotes in a drawer somewhere.
