Q: Mac refuses to sync calendars with iCloud - box will not stay checked

Calendars with iCloud had previously been working fine on Mac and iPhone.  iPhone is still updating correctly, but the Calendars box on Mac has unchecked itself and when checked, says 'Setting up...' briefly, then the box unchecked itself again.

iMac (24-inch Mid 2007), Mac OS X (10.7.5)
