Moving applications to an external drive

I need to free up space on my main hard drive. I put my iphoto and itunes libraries on the external drive. Are there other applications that I can move to the external to have more free space on HD? If so, do I just move them to the other drive?

If you dragged the applications to your Applications folder by hand, you can simply move them to the external drive. Moving an application which was bundled with Mac OS X or was created by an installer should not be moved, as updates to that application expect it to be in the default location, and some applications require special permissions to operate correctly, which will be lost if they are dragged to another disk in the Finder.

So you dragged and dropped both photoshop 7 and CS Applications from the Application folder to your External Hard-drive. Correct? If the EH was turned on and mounted on desktop the Apps. should have open. If you moved any other files from, say, Utilities, system, or Preference folders. Thing won't work. When you installed the Apps. Did you first uninstalled all related files from desktop HD. First you need to do a search for all keywords such us Adobe, photoshop using finder and deleting them till no more files remain( do not remove Adobe reader and such). Then, you can have a clean installaion. Good luck.
