Is there anyway to make the late 2009 21.5 inch imac a display?

I have a late 2009 21.5 inch imac, and recently bought a 27 inch late 2013 imac. I understand that the late 2009 imac doesnt support thunderbolt, however the thunderbolt cavle is the same size as the display cable
