playlists on iMac won't sync to iPhone and iPad correctly

Half of the playlists as well as random songs won't transfer over to the iphone and ipad. longtime itunes account, only one user id ever, 7000+ songs; new imac, ipad 3 and iphone 4s. plenty of space, and all running latest iOS. I have tried updating Match, turning it off and on at all 3 devices; I see other people have had similar problems, but not the exact one I'm having; any ideas what the problem is, and how do i fix it so i can get my playlists from the iMac to my iphone? i prefer to create and edit playlists on the big screen of the iMac;
