Q: 10.9.2 Radeon X3000 Driver Crash

Has anyone heard if there's a fix forthcoming for video driver crash in 10.9.2?  After applying the latest patch to my MBP many programs would cause a hard crash.  System logs showed a crash coming from AMDRadeonX3000GLDriver.  Would really like to take this upgrade, but not with those side effects.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), 2.2 GHz i7, 16 GB RAM

Post the latest kernel panic report, if any, or the last app crash report.

I have since backed out the update, but here's the log from some of the latest crashes before I gave up.

Most likely, one of these is the culprit.

    com.paceap.kext.pacesupport.snowleopard          5.9.1

    com.Apogee.driver.DuetFWOverideDriver          1.4.4

    com.rogueamoeba.InstantOn          6.0.4

Boot into safe mode (restart holding down SHIFT key). If no KP, then uninstall and reinstall those things one at a time until you determine which is causing the problem. If KP, then most likely hardware related. Run the Apple Hardware Test suite, extended tests at least twice, followed by Rember.  See

Looks like a little leg work; certainly don't mind that.

    Couple of thoughts/questions:

    • What is the paceap kernel extension?  The snowleopard part is curious.
    • The kernel panics are certainly part of this picture, but didn't happen with every crash.  The crashes were very frequent.  Seems there is something going on with the video driver.

The applications crashes started almost immediately after the 10.9.2 install.  Some applications would trip it faster than others, but eventially we would get there.
