how to turn off Time machine
Advised to turn off Time Machine to prevent loss during repair / investigation of problem - cannot find how to turn off Time Machine - please help

Open Time Machine preferences and under the Time Machine logo is an on / off switch. Click on that. Then disconnect the external HD if that is what Time Machine saves to.
