Problem importing pictures from iPhone to macbook

Anytime that I try to import my photos from my iPhone to my macbook there is always an error. No matter what program I use. I have used iPhoto and image capture and they both got an error and couldn't transfer my photos. What do I do?! I really need to get these pictures on to my macbook and off my iphone.
