How can I remedy this? My replicator says that I need to provide a new master. But the DVD-R works and plays fine. However, when tested using EclipseSuite tools, they get error 309. What can I do if I see nothing wrong?

Alright. After extensive conversations with my replicator, we finally came to this. Instead of letting DVDSP to build and format to a DVD, I used the build and format to Hard Drive. I then used the the DDP 2.00 option. I exported this to the HDD then I used Toast to burn the files to a Data DVD.

My replicator used the annalogy that this was like giving him all the materials to bake a cake. The three files (the DDPID, the control.dat, and the main.dat) are all the information used in the making that cake (the flour, sugar, etc., the cook book name and the actual receipe used).

Once the Data DVD got to him he "reconstituted" the ingredience and then "baked the cake."

I have not gotten back an evaulation copy of the DVD but so far eveything is working fine.

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,

Yes, Allan seems to have a great replicator!

One problem though, he should be dissuading Allan from submitting on DVD-R. The original VOBU error that resulted in the rejection is a common read error; a great deadline blower.

The same DVD-R can playback fine in a player because of the error correction of the DVD Format is designed to recover from small imperfections in the disc, and if the player has a problem reading a few sectors. But this won't fly at the plant, where all sectors need to be accounted for because a master is being created from it.

I've put together a little synopsis of why it's not a good idea to submit Images, even DDP Images, on DVD-R which is in a section of this overall article on "Why Verify the DVD?", if you're interested:

Take care,
