Q: Emoji appear as black and white in Final Cut Pro X

Using the Character Viewer in OSX Mavericks, I was able to put some colorful emoji into one of my films in FCPX.

I moved the project to a new computer and now the emoji will only show up in black and white!  I can't adjust the colors or the font settings, or anything to get the emoji to appear in color again!

Same project, different computer, different emoji.  I have looked across my settings and preferences and I can't figure out why this is happening.  Anyone else have any suggestions or experiences here?

Thanks,

Justin

Look in Applications/Fontbook.  Is the font called Apple Color Emoji present and enabled?

Yes - thanks, good question Tom.  I have Apple Color Emoji installed and active. I was just able to drag a full-color emoji into iMessages.

When I drag an emoji into a text-line in Final Cut Pro, I get the emoji looking regular in color in the inspector, but the emoji is grayscale in the previewer :-/  Here's a picture:

    Update:

I've tried deleting my FCPX preferences, cache and layout file and no luck yet in my primary user acount!

I tried making a new user on my system, and that new user can input color emoji into Final Cut Pro X 10.1 just fine.  Still researching how to enable my primary user to be able to input color emoji!

I'm sorry to be of no aid to you in this situation, but I can't seem to get the emojis to show / be visible whatsoever! Have you had this problem at all? And if so, how did you rectify it?

I would really appreciate your help with this as it seems that nowhere else on the internet has had this problem (or at least not encountered it!)

    Thanks in advance,

    jameboyy

Hi, Jameboyy, I have the same exact problem! I see that this comment was from quite a while back, did you happen to find a solution??

    Thanks!

Have you tried this recently? I tried this - two macs running El Capitan 10.11.5; add emojis, then copy the library to a second mac, and the emojis appear in full color.
