The text/SMS app on my iphone is stuck on new message and will not allow me to cancel, check messages or send new ones. Help

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure.
Hi Stedman 1. Many thanks for that - it worked. I can recall uding that for another problem some time ago and it also worked. I'll use that as my first method for fixing in the future
