Help files do not open on MacBook Air

When I click on Help at top of screen, I get the options listed, but when I click on a topic nothing opens!

Any suggestions??

Also, I read in one post where someone suggested using "Onyx", some Mac utility I have to download, to rebuild the Help files. Any thoughts on that.

This is a 2 month old MacBook Air, my first Mac, and I am very hesistant to start using extra software I don't need.
