I tried restoring my iMac 27" slim. I followed the steps erased my data then to reinstall osx mavericks. Now that I'm trying to reinstall osx mavericks for whatever reason it doesn't completes. Can you help me out?

Well I shut down my iMac.after it completely shut down i held down the option button and turned it back on and waited for it to go the Macintosh and recovery screen. Selected the recovery screen went into disk utility made sure Macintosh was selected and that in the erase tab made sure that Mac OS extended ( journal ) was in the format bar. After I erased it I quit disk utility and proceeded to reinstall osx mavericks. Stepped away and when I came back saw the same Osx utilities screen. I repeated the process and when it's time to reinstall the OS it just drops out back OS X utilities screen.
That's not quite the proper way as far as I can tell. Usually, one boots directly into the Recovery HD using COMMAND and R keys at startup. If you cannot do that then most likely there is a problem with the hard drive. Since this is a new computer i would make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.
You can attempt internet recovery (command-alt-R) instead of command-R.
