I'll add to this thread. I updated both my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 to 7.1. The iPad is fine and connects and works with my Setechi BT Lite headphones.

HOWEVER, my iphone 5 can see the headphones, pair, connect, and the buttons advance between songs etc. The problem is that no SOUND can be heard from the headset. Clearly a problem if you're trying to listen to music! Weirdly, if I make a phone call, the sound is fine! Really, REALLY strange!

Any ideas?

Thanks...

My iPhone 5S was paired to my 2012 Mazda CX-9 car stereo (audio and phone functionality). After iOS 7.1 the phone and car cannot pair. I deleted the car from the phone ("forget this device") and deleted the phone from the car, then repaired. That did not help. They can "pair" in the sense that each learns about the other, but they cannot function together. In fact, when they are "paired" the car stereo locks up - I lose all ability to turn the stereo off or operate any radio functions (no CD, no FM, nothing works). So, I had to delete the pairing for now. No more hands free phone; no more podcasts via the car radio. Apple help!

I need to retract my complaint about 7.1 and bluetooth. I AM AN IDIOT! After a lot of screwing around I realized that I had the system sounds decoupled from the volume rocker in settings. This meant that I could hear phone calls and all other beeps and bops through my Bluetooth headset. I couldn't hear the music because I had the volume turned all the way down and failed to check this since I could hear the other sounds so it never occurred to me that the volume was essentially turned off!

Apple.... Sorry. You're not guilty _this time_.

Hello,

I drive 50 miles everyday for work. MUST do conference calls while driving -PRIOR to he "update" I was able to pair car and bluetooth with ease, Now its MISSION IMPOSSIBLE. done everything, reset, etc APPLE please stop calling this an "update" you guys are bringing up to us new bugs , and no one takes full responsability for these "new developments" . Release something that can fix these issues right away. Thanks-

To start out with, you are not addressing Apple here, this is a user to user forum. Next, you do not indicate what the "car" is that you cannot pair. That would help. Also, what user troubleshooting have you attempted to fix the problem. Myself and the others in my family have had no issues with connecting to the bluetooth in our vehicles or other bluetooth devices. Try removing the phone from the vehicle list, and the vehicle from the phone list. Then turn off the car and reset the phone. Turn the car back on and put it into discovery/pairing mode. Then turn the phone back on and turn Bluetooth on to put it in discovery/pairing mode. They should connect.

I have the same problem. I have an iPhone 5 and after updating to IOS 7.1 synchronising my contacts doesn't work any more on my Audi MMI system. It used to work a week ago. Restarting, re-pairing and all did not make any difference. The phone itself can connect so I can receive calls through my car system and I can also call other people by bluetooth as long as if I use my iPhone to initialize the call. Using my wives iphone with an older IOS works perfectly. Please fix problem fast since it is making my pretty expensive MMI system rather useless..

This is generally not an iPhone problem. Updates made to the phones at times need to be matched with updates to the vehicle's systems. The iPhones install the latest Bluetooth profiles and at times will not match those in vehicles. Check with the vehicle manufacturer to see if it is compatible with the latest iOS and if they have any updates for their systems.

A quick update on how I solved the problem. There is an app (My Mazda) by Mazda that confirms my vehicle and device should be compatible, including pairing instructions.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mymazda/id451886367?mt=8

The pairing method I was using (which was failing) involved using the vehicle's 4.3 inch display.

The pairing method suggested by the app (which works) is to press the phone button on the steering wheel and say, "Setup", then "Pairing Options", then "Pair" at each of the voice prompts. Follow the instructions from the vehicle (e.g. entering paring code 0000).

That's it; problem solved. Not sure why the old pairing method no longer works after updaing to the latest iOS 7 version.

I seem to have this same problem. After upgrading to 7.1 my car's (Hyundai Santa Fe) Bluetooth system would no longer pair with my 4s. Initially I thought the problemwas the car and I tried doing a hard re-set on the car system and on my phone, then I tried deleting the existing profiles on both... No joy. My phone can't see the car to even attempt to pair with it. I checked with another phobe (5c not upgraded to 7.1) and it could see the phone just fine.

I have also attempted to pair with my MacBook Pro to use the personal hotspot... and neither device can discover the other.

I have tried the "Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings then re-pair with the devices." suggestion listed here and no improvement.
