Problem connecting Optoma ML300 to Macbook pro (early 2011 with mavericks)

I'm trying to connect my macbook pro (early 2011) to a optoma ml300 projector. I'm running mavericks. I've got as far as my laptop recognising the optoma wifi connection and connecting to it without problems, I've downloaded the MirrorOp Sender Lite software that optoma reccomend to display my desktop image but when I start up the software the program crashes. I get the error message "MirrorOp sender lite quit unexpectedly." This is really frustrating as I contacted Optoma before buying the device to see if it would work with my system they told me it would no problem. I really hope somebody can help me out!
