Mar 11, 2014 1:50 PM in response to jin512by EmSurfer,I had the same issues. Tried deleting fingerprints and redoing them. Didn't work. On Apple Support, someone recommended making sure "iPhone Unlock" was not switched off. check. I then tried turning the unlock off then back on and restarted my iPhone 5s. Now it's working seamlessly.

Mar 11, 2014 7:01 PM in response to jin512by ddbutton,I've tried the different ideas mentioned in this post - not working!!!
When I connect to the computer the fingerprint starts to go through its scan routine, but stops and I get nothing.
There has to be something goofy about this update as I never had a bit of trouble with any previous updates.

Mar 11, 2014 7:35 PM in response to jin512by Apple Sam,Hi, having the same problem. So far I have tried:
1) off and on the phone
2) off and on the iphone unlock;
3) erase existing print;
4) reboot (hold sleep key and home button till apple logo appear).
The trouble is when I try to add finger print or turn on iphone unlock, a message appear "Place Your Finger" which I did, but totally no response thereafter, the page continue to stay forever.....
There was twice after reboot, while I place my finger, the scan start and freeze thereafter, no more scanning like before.
Anything wrong with the home button ?

Mar 11, 2014 8:32 PM in response to jin512by Jason_AU,It's clear that this is an ios 7.1 issue.
It's also clear that apple will have a fix very soon.
I have the exact same problem. Touch ID was working fine on previous versions of ios.
Tries all of the things listed in this thread and no go.
The sensor is simply not recognising any touch at all.
As usual, we are being beta testers for apple.
It's fairly clear that they didn't so enough (any ? ) tearing before releasing this ios 7.1
Apple, if your listening, fix this ASAP.
Jason.

Mar 11, 2014 8:40 PM in response to Jason_AUby Apple Sam,Frustrating isn't it?
Was thinking to go to Singtel to check, thought it might be my button issue.
Now that seeing so many having the same issue, wonder it could be the IOS7.1 problem instead, will bear with it and hope it could be resolve soon..

Mar 11, 2014 9:31 PM in response to jin512by Jason_AU,resetting the settings DID NOT work for me.
now i have no touch id fingers registered, and each time i try, it just hange, because there is no finger print recognition.
the phone just hangs waiting till is sees a fingerprint, that it never sees as the sensor is broken under ios 7.1.

Mar 11, 2014 10:56 PM in response to jin512by Jason_AU,An update.
I discovered that the tough id will work (only sporadically) when the phone is plugged into the charger.
As soon as the phone is unplugged, it refuses to work again.
I sure hope apple fixes this and soon.
Jason.

Mar 11, 2014 11:55 PM in response to Ricky V.by Apple Sam,Hi all, after trying all recoemmendation, before I send in to Singtel or waiting for the arrival of Apple fix, I rang up their support hotline. A nice lady (based in US) answered my call, after going through what I have done so far, she receommend to do a restore - i.e., setting the new phone like new, then restore back all my backup.
Did it (which took a while) and test - yes, I am able to add back the 3 finger prints. However, before I can add the 4th, the problem is back again......
Sigh.....

Mar 12, 2014 3:55 AM in response to jin512by queenieeyee,Same problem here. I tried all the suggested methods but still to no avail. Rather than saying "Try again" my finger scanner can't detect my fingerprint at all! I tried letting the phone cool down before trying again but it still doesn't work. Pease help :/

Mar 12, 2014 4:01 AM in response to jin512by sennfoo,Just wait for apple to fix the problem, its not hardware related.
In the meantime just use slide to unlock ;)
Oh yeah, just curious is the iphone who got the problem is gsm model (iphone 6.1)? Or anyone with cdma model (iphone 6.2)

Mar 12, 2014 4:43 AM in response to sennfooby ddbutton,My iPhone is a 5s GSM model. Just loaded OS 7.1. The Touch ID had worked fine until this update.
