Mar 12, 2014 6:13 AM in response to ddbuttonby Lawrence Finch,Mine is a GSM model. Just loaded 7.1. Touch ID works much better than it did on 7.0.x. It works every time on the first try, something that never happened before. As one of the changes listed was improved Touch ID it seems to have.
Before any troubeshooting do the following:
- On your computer, in iTunes Preferences, Devices pane, check "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically"
- On your phone, go to Settings/iCloud - Storage & Backup, and do an iCloud backup
- On your computer, connect the phone, click on its name, and click "Backup"
If you are having touch ID problems try Restoring the phone using iTunes and set up as a new phone. DO NOT SYNC. Configure and test Touch ID. If it still isn't working you most likely have a hardware problem. Take it to an Apple store and they will replace it. If it works after Restore as New then connect to iTunes and restore the backup. If the problem comes back you have corrupt data in your backup. Restore as New again.

Mar 12, 2014 7:17 AM in response to jin512by @lK3sh,Same here, TouchID works Sporadically. Rebooting the phone solves the problem for a while but after 5-10 minutes it doesn'e even detect my finger.....
Hope apple will come with a fix soon....

Mar 12, 2014 7:17 AM in response to sennfooby Jason_AU,I already confirmed that it works (though not reliably) when plugged in.
But only when plugged into the charger. Plugging it into the computer and itunes, did nothing.
Jason.

Mar 12, 2014 7:22 AM in response to Jason_AUby Lawrence Finch,What is the state of charge on the phone? Have you tried charging it to 100%?

Mar 12, 2014 10:32 AM in response to jin512by johnjay1231,None of these solutions nor any given to me by an Apple Care tech have solved my problem with Touch ID after updating to iOS 7.1. My phone doesn't even act like it recognizes I've touched the sensor. I deleted all my prints and when I try to add them back the screen to add my print comes up but when I touch the sensor, nothing, nothing at all happens.

Mar 13, 2014 8:08 AM in response to jin512by homeboy9991,I'm former Malaysia. Having the same issue. My Touch ID works for awhile after a restart, but then it stuck again, won't recognise my prints. I re-adding my prints, but no luck. I even did a clean restore without restore from backup, but the problem still persist. Previous version was fine. Very responsive and 98% accuracy. Now after 7.1, I can't even use it and totally no confidence with it. I'm very sure it's a software issue. I use the home button very gently and I rely more on the assist ice touch home button instead of the physical one. My phone never dropped not even a single scratch. So the culprit.... iOS 7.1! Apple do something!

Mar 13, 2014 1:00 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby Jason_AU,There's no point in taking this and expecting a warranty repair.
It's NOT a hardware issue. IT IS very clearly an IOS 7.1 issue for GSM phones.
Apple, please fix this ASAP.

Mar 13, 2014 1:18 PM in response to Jason_AUby Lawrence Finch,I have a GSM phone and my Touch ID works perfectly on 7.1; it fact, it works better than it did on 7.0.x. It is NOT a problem with GSM phones. It is a problem with YOUR phone. Do what you want, but there will be no software fix. Your sensor hardware has failed. You can get a warranty repair or stop using Touch ID. The people who DID get their phone replaced have all said the problem is gone.
And addressing Apple in this user-to-user forum is a total waste of time. Apple does not read these forums.

Mar 13, 2014 1:36 PM in response to Lawrence Finchby Jason_AU,Then olease explain why SO MANY users that had no issues at all before 7.1 all of a sudden have a so called bad sensor under 7.1 ?
My sensor was working perfectly fine up to this latest update.
