The top of my iPod touch screen is darker than the rest of my screen after the newest update?

Looks like the wallpaper is that way. What happens if you change the wallpaper?

Make sure that any wallpager special effects are turned off.

I just updated and my phone is doing the same thing. The top half is darker than the bottom half. I really don't like the looks of it now!

What phone?

I just tried on my iPad 4 and iPhone 4S and do not see that.

I have the same issue with my 5S and my retina ipad.

Which "reitna" iPad?

What kind of wallpaper? Your own photo? A still available on the device?

I tried both still available and my own photos

It's my iPhone 5s and iPad 4 (generation prior to air). It does it on the lock screen and the background wallpaper. It seems to only do it on my photos. Maybe I wasn't paying attention before but I really noticed it after the update to 7.1. Easiest way to tell it is happening is to go to the wallpaper previews in settings and adjust the picture. You can see a definite line about a third the way down from the top of the screen where the image is significantly darker.

I updated both devices OTA if that makes any difference.

I did not see it only my iPad 4 with iOS 7.1 with both my photos and the wallpaper included in the iOS

I am using a iPhone 4 and the same thing is happening to me as well. I had a support chat and supposely it's a feature of the update. But I dont think so. Either way please leave feedback that it isn't a feature we want and they might fix it. If anyone here has any idea how to solve it I am all ears as well

Well if it is a "feature," it is one I can do without. If anyone finds out how to turn this off, please post. Thanks.

You can try several things:

1. Go to Settings>Wallpapers & Brightness, and turn the Brightness up or down

2. Go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Increase Contrast, and play with the three options available there - I turned off Reduce Transparency, and turned on Darken Colors and Reduce White Point, because I like the color gradation on the wallpaper on my Home screen. But if you don't like it, then make sure Darken Colors is off, and try that with Reduce White Point both off and on to see what you like best

There are a lot of new settings specifically designed to address the variety of problems that people were having with the initial iOS 7 "look". Play around with them. You will probably find a combination that will suit you.
