Big problem with keyboard, too slow because of IOS 7.1

This happened in past updates. As I recall, go to settings, iCloud, turn off documents and data. That helped some people.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I'm having the same problem with my iPad 2 16gb. Neither of the above suggestions have worked.

I have turned off Documents & Data. I've reset all of my settings, and I have tried the device reset.

Nothing. The keyboard lag makes the device virtually unusable.

I also had a problem with the keyboard bring VERY slow after updating to iOS 7.1. This solution worked for me too. Went to General -> Reset -> Reset Keyboard Dictionary. Thanks for the tip.

I too wish I had been able to see this sooner. Restored back to factory, which worked of course.

Will have to keep it in mind for the future or for devices.

This is what finally worked for me:

Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> select your gmail account and toggle OFF Contacts.

I completely erased my iphone and started over and as soon as I added my gmail account the clean install had the same problem. was finally able to narrow it down to the contacts, so now at least I get my email, I just have NO contacts on my phone or ipad now.

Apple broke it, Apple needs to fix it... ASAP!!!

Power button + Home button = problem gone. This problem popped up, btw, when I did a factory reset to move the iPad 2 from me to my wife.
