I want to convert an .avi movie to a format where I can cut a DVD. I have OS X lion operating system

I want to convert an .ave movie to be able to create a dvd. What software do I need? Thanks

Try using HandBrake 0.9.9.

Thanks Kappy, this helped. I was able to convert the .avi file to mp4 making it possible to view the movie. However, I was unable to burn it. I downloaded a program called express burn from prism and was able to burn the .avi file to a dvd .vob. format.

If you are using a 4gb dvd you may have to change the setting to medium quality depending on the movie size. Hope this helps.
