iOS 7.1 Personal Hotspot APN settings won't save on iPhone 4

Hello,

I am facing a problem, which would be great to resolve. Since I updated to iOS 7.1 I can't set APN setttings for Personal Hotspot in my iPhone. If I go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Settings, and I set the APNs(for data+mms) and i go back to save the freshly set APN settings then it saves, but if I touch any fields in the "Personal Hotspot" section (even focusing) and I go back the same way any changed value won't save (e.g. I also change data APN). In the menu "Cellular" there is an option for personal tethering where it just keeps loading and after a ehile it becomes an available option, but if I click on it it displays an error message like: "...contact: Carrier". So I tried everything, I reset my network settings, did 3 full restore(via iTunes, in recovery mode and DFU too). Then finally I downgraded to iOS 6.1.2 and guess what, it started working.. Then I thought it repaired some settings bug which burned in my device and I restored 7.1 in DFU. Now it is not working again. I need the help of community since I need hotspot tethering so hard everyday for my job. Thanks in advance!

I'm very angry too. At least they should give us the option to downgrade to iOS 7.0.6. So far iOS 7.1 is a joke - I had a working phone a week ago - now I can't use personal hotspot, the phone-app freezes every now and then if a quit a call, Safari crashed a few times (never done that before), ...

If this is a kind of planned obsolencence to get me buy a new iPhone its backfiring at Apple. It just get me to buy a phone from a different manufacturer.

I'm another iPhone 4 user in THAILAND using TRUEMOVE who cannot use tethering (mobile hotspot) after "upgrading" to iOS7.1.

As noted in by an earlier poster, TrueMove is on the supported carrier list.

It has been a week now since the public release of iOS7.1. If I understand one of the earlier posts, this problem was identified in several beta releases. Nothing was done pre-release, so why should we think Apple even cares enough to do something now, a week after release? Be honest: How much do you think Apple really cares about iPhone 4 users? Twelve pages of posts, which reportedly were being followed by folks at Apple. I rest my case.

I have, and didn't work for me, unfortunately :-(

I wrote to the address on the website and the person replied that if there is no way to change the APN code manually, the website can't either.

So back to square one, dearly waiting for a fix from Apple.

I just had another call with the Apple Support. Although very friendly she couldn't help. She said it seems to be a hardware related problem (!!), because an update should solve problems and not make new ones. The fact that it worked under 7.0.6 but not after the update to 7.1 make her even more serious about the hardware problem. I should try another clean install and figure out if the personal hotspots works before I install the backup. If this will not work I should bring the phone to an Apple Partner to repair it! 😁
