iOS 7.1 Personal Hotspot APN settings won't save on iPhone 4

Hello,

I am facing a problem, which would be great to resolve. Since I updated to iOS 7.1 I can't set APN setttings for Personal Hotspot in my iPhone. If I go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Settings, and I set the APNs(for data+mms) and i go back to save the freshly set APN settings then it saves, but if I touch any fields in the "Personal Hotspot" section (even focusing) and I go back the same way any changed value won't save (e.g. I also change data APN). In the menu "Cellular" there is an option for personal tethering where it just keeps loading and after a ehile it becomes an available option, but if I click on it it displays an error message like: "...contact: Carrier". So I tried everything, I reset my network settings, did 3 full restore(via iTunes, in recovery mode and DFU too). Then finally I downgraded to iOS 6.1.2 and guess what, it started working.. Then I thought it repaired some settings bug which burned in my device and I restored 7.1 in DFU. Now it is not working again. I need the help of community since I need hotspot tethering so hard everyday for my job. Thanks in advance!

I've been talking to Simyo (Spain) and they assure me that it's an Apple's issue. They haven't changed the terms of use. They ask me to phone Apple to solve this issue. I asked them to send an APN Settings OTA with the but they say that can't do this.

It's so sad that nobody from Apple says anything about this. Maybe it's time for Moto X or Nexus 😟

In the users forum of Tuenti (Spain), the hotspot problem has also been raised, and a forum administrator noted that this is neither a technical nor policy change that Tuenti made. That comes as no surprise of course since we know it's the implementation of IOS 7.1 that caused the problem. It's still unclear to me whether Apple will admit that there is a problem and fix it (I hope!!)..but how can one know given the absolute silence coming from Apple.

Well. I've been talking for half an hour to Apple Spain and they confirmed IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT AND THEY'RE NOT GOING TO TO NOTHING. They say it's a problem with OMV's (MVNO's). All the alternative carriers must change the APN profile and send it to the phone. I've been talking (so he said) to High Level Support and he was completly sure of what he said was true. I don't know what to do. Any suggestion?

After IOS 7.1 update, hotspot stopped working on my mobile provider, Go, in Malta. Same issue as mentioned here where APN setting is not saved. Hotspot on Vodafone Malta, with the same iPhone however works! This is not a hardware problem, but an issue between Apple and some carriers who appear not to be official Apple licensees. Go appear totally unaware of the issue and spent an hour on the phone with them hopping from one dept to the other. Hotspot still not working on their network. Solution: buy Android or change carrier when contract expires. Unless Apple fix it soon, no more IOS devices for me. Pity I just bought the mini ipad II.
