Cannot update ipad1 to iOS 7....pleasehelp

I have recently purchased a 1st generation iPad and it will not let me update to ios7 ? Please help

iPhone 5s, iOS 6.1.1

Correct, as the iPad 1 can not be upgraded beyond 5.1.1.
