Configurator Device Enrollment

I have just updated to Apple Configurator 1.5 and seen it now supports MDM Device Enrollment.

I went in to the device enrollment payload, the URL was alredy filled in so I just changed the hostname from the .local to my MDM servers hostname, then I added the certificate.

I then provisioned a supervised ipad, tapped throught the language, region etc screens then got a new screen at the end, "<Company name> can automaticly configure your ipad", with the options apply configuration or skip.

I tap apply then next and I get: The configuration for your ipad could not be downloaded from <company name>.

The operation couldn't be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.)

I cant find any information on this error, If i got to the url in a browser I get "405 Method Not Supported : GET" which I guess is to be expected, the server log dosent show anything obvious and the device console just shows the same error.

Any ideas how to fix this error?

Hello,

Just a thought, did the iPad show a wireless signal present before you got to this step in the setup? If not it could explain the error message.

Yes one of the previous steps sets up the wireless connection, really just selecting it as the credentials are deployed in a profile to the device from configurator.

Would you like to try the following URL in Configurator (changing the hostname as before)?

https://myserver.local/devicemanagement/api/device/auto_join_ota_service

That's the URL from my enrollment profile.

Tried your URL, it gave me the same error 😟

The default URL was:

https://myserver.local/devicemanagement/mdm/dep_mdm_enroll

I would have thought the default would have been valid for Profile Manager 3.

Hi I think the default URL is correct as it is the only URL where the device is asking for user credentials. Any other URL will fail (probably not with 3rd party MDM solutions) without even asking for them. But in the enrollment process these credentials are essential. This seams to be an issue with Server.app 3.0.3..
