How do I prevent the attachments from going away when I save an email to my computer?
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)
Try going to Mail preferences/Accounts/Advanced, and make sure that keep cpoies for offline viewing is set to all messages and their attachments is selected,
That is not an option in my mail version.

If your profile is correct you are running 10.6.6, you should update to 10.6.8 You want to be running Mail 4.6 or above (4.6 is the latest for Snow Leopard 10.6.8)

This is a large update which will update Mail. You will need to restart your computer after, then run software update to bring everything else up tp date.
Per your email stating that I should upgrade to 10.6.8, I already am runniing 10.6.8. Is it possible that the mail portion of the operating system did not upgrade?
you can run that update and it should cause no problems.
Sorrry about the delay (had to get kids from school) if you go to Mail and click on Mail abot Mail this is what you should see.

related question: When I receive and email with a MSW attachment, it shows up as winmail.dat. What happened to the .doc??? I receive PDF and PPT documents and can access them, but not Word documents. I am using Mail, not Microsoft outlook.
