You can use any number of other Apps to listen to your music on google drive. You just can't directly play them in the Default music App on the iPhone.
iTunes on the iPhone is just the Store front, it does not play files.
An option is here:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cloudbeats-lite-cloud-music/id681144772?mt=8
It´s not possible using itunes. But you can get another mp3-player from appstore. I use MP3Free and it shows up as an option in the Google Drive-app.
Works like a charm.
The only way to get music files into the Music app on an iOS device is either by syncing them to the device through iTunes on a computer or by purchasing them directly from the iTunes Store on the phone. You might try putting the Google Music app on your phone and seeing if you can open the file in that.
this is awful, I need to playback mp3 files that I put into my google drive for educational purposes and I just can't play them directly from the ios app,
however I found a workaround, renaming the .mp3 to .wav seems to do the trick...
I suppose this limitation is just a bug or is it in order to 'prevent' copyright infringement? either way is stupid...
Import them into iTunes on your computer then sync your phone.
Thank you.
You have to send it to your OWN email then from there tap and hold on it and when it asks you who to send it to press add to notes and it should be in notes.
Thanks Phil, for the solution and for adding the link to CloudBeats.
