Having trouble sending messages from mac email but no problem receiving emails? Not sure how to get it working. Called apple and they want my credit card before they help me. Did anyone else have this email problem.
MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
Check the email settings for the outbound server. Usually your mail provider will have a help page for setting up their mail with various programs, including Mac Mail. You want to check the settings for the SMTP server.
With Mail running, click Window in the menu bar and select Connection Doctor. That will tell you what service is not working. If this is a gmail account, it may well be yet another problem with the gmail smtp server. It happens too often.
