scanning from my HP printer to my Powerbook pro, sending scan to desktop, scan is shown while scanning but I cannot find it (them) on my desktop. why?

Scanning from a HP8600 to my Powerbook pro, check off sending to desktop, scanner scans but document never appears on desktop?
