Pages on macbook > Ipad then does not = back to macbook

NEVERMIND I found the issue but for ref, The old shortcut was in my dock and that is what I was opening from.

I have the latest versions of all software installed on all devices. I have a document that I created on macbook, modified on ipad then went back to macbook to work on it says I need the newest version of pages which I have and verified via app store on all devices.
