Q: Iphone 5s battery drains fast after ios 7.1 update.

Am I the only one who seems to be experiencing this? My iphone 5S battery seem to drain much faster than usual, and charge longer. I heard that the new update is supposed to increase battery life, and read comparison threads regarding other iphones that are capable of a much better battery life than mine.

I've had my phone for 3 months, never have dropped it once or anything of the sort, if that matters. My battery drains to 50% within an hour or so after intense use on the lowest level of brightness, and I seem to lose about 5-7 percents when on standby for 5 hours or so. Is this normal? Is it perhaps due to the fact that I am mostly using 3g, and applications that require more processing such as tumblr (graphics and gifs) as well safari? I'm just worried that my battery may be draining to quick, despite the update which's supposed to make it much better according to many people.

Thanks.

Well its obvious after 5+ months of a bad battery drain and no fix from apple.  All the hard resets and other BS they say will fix the problem.  After turning off all the "smart phone" services so you have a dumb phone still didn't work.  I have found a solution.  Buy a Samsung, works great battery lasts a long time and worse case you can buy a replacement or spare battery for 19 bucks at any battery store.  And if you have a problem you can walk right in and they will help you.  You don't have to make a special appointment for permission to see them. I'm done with apple, for good!

Hey! GUYS! I Found a fix! iPhone Battery Drain, 7.1.2, I Have A FIX!

This is a guide I posted!  It took me a total of 10 hours of Apple Store trips and self trouble shooting to find this solution so please feel free to use it!  Also, feel free to leave comments inside it and ask questions if you need clarifications.

we appreciate your effort but i am afraid it didn't work for me, i have removed my icloud and iTunes accounts all together, i have put wifi off and removed sim card, removed all application, battery is calibrated, reset all setting, but still my iphone 5s drains battery at a rate of 6% per Hour. Also about it drains the same amount in the airplane mode - will ios 7.1.3 solve this problem ?

I have the same problem. the phone used to go for days without charging. did all the things they recommended with no luck Even restored the iphone as a new device. I am disappointed that the software update has rendered the iphone in this condition. It has also made the wifi on the iPhone has less range. I have read where they said it is the router. It is not the router as the iPhone used to have the range in the apartment and The ipad that has not beed updated to the latest iOS  still has the wifi range.

Mine has been doing this since the update also, I have found that closing all of my background apps ESPECIALLY any camera apps slows down the drainage. My brightness is also turned down as low as I can handle it.

I am really hoping that this has been rectified for the iPhone 6 because I am planning on upgrading soon but might wait for a customer review before I take the plunge!

    Best of luck.

Go to app store and download battery doctor should have 136 star ratings

Run you battery down to 1% if you cant plug charger in till apple logo and unplug do this till its fully empty .

Now charge close all apps turn wifi bluetooth off and put on airplane mode and keep the battery app open .run the clean opimze and leave till  the app plays a sound when charged this app saved my iphone 4s drain on 7.1.2

How is everyone's iPhone 5S battery doing with iOS 8? I don't see any updates on this thread and I am very curious.

To the person above, I no longer have an iPhone but have an iPad mini and can see usage information by app by settings-->manage usage.

I pretty much have the identical problem and my phone is also only about 3 months old. Suddenly the battery drains like yours so fast within a few hours. Now I have to carry the charger with me everywhere I go hoping I can charge it again.  I wonder what and if Apple will ever respond.  Thanks for asking the question.

I took mine to the Apple store and since it was still under warranty they replaced it with a new phone and now I do not have that problem.  You might also try and check if you have turned the "bright" too high, also check notifications and stop most of the notifications and background refresh stopped, this will all save battery life.
