IPhone 5s heats up when charging and losing battery fast

Hi,

Last night, 3/10/2014, I plugged in my IPhone 5s to charge it and when I got up this morning I found it was very hot to the touch and throughout the day the battery ran down very quickly. I charged it again, today, and it, again was very hot to the touch and the battery drained again fairly quickly. Any ideas?
