IOS 7.1 creates scrolling problem?

Upgraded my UK iPhone 5S 64GB to ios 7.1 yesterday. I have been facing page scrolling problems in all applications (Bloomberg, BBC, Safari, FT, LinkedIn, FaceBook...all applications). The problem is easily reproduced by keeping your finger on the screen when the page to scroll is displayed and moving the finger slowly to scroll the page. The page jumps in direction opposite to the expected.

By mid June there are over 9800 people looking at this issue discussion.

PLEASE add to the discussion for Apple to pay attention to this issue of intermittent working of the phone screen- specifically the lower third.


Honestly, I HATE using the phone right now. Keyboard difficult to use as is scrolling. 😠

Wish I had an iPhone 4s.... what's the use of having the latest touch phone if the touch isn't working properly???? And Apple has left it this long without a fix?

So much for intuitive use.

iPhone 5 16gb

Tested using 2 different chargers .

1) genuine Apple charger - no problem with scrolling

2) 3rd party charger - erratic scrolling , zooming etc.


solution is simple. Only use Apple chargers. Others are erratic and can be dangerous.

not saying that solves your issue, but it does for many posters on this thread.🙂

I have this exact same issue since upgrading to 7.1 months ago. I only use Apple chargers. Problem persists whether or not I'm charging the phone. When it gets erratic, I have to lock and then unlock the phone to get it to work properly again. This fix lasts anywhere from 10 seconds to a few minutes at most.


I did a complete OS re-install and then applied my settings and apps from a backup. This fixed the problem for a couple of weeks, but it did return over time. As a developer I also tried iOS 8 beta 5, and I have the exact same issue there. I am going to back-level my OS to 7.0.6 and see if that at least gets me back to pre-7.1 functionality.


My phone is not under warranty - but it's a shame that Apple would introduce this bug to so many via a software upgrade and then not take it seriously enough to fix. We have multiple iPhone's, iPad's, and MacBook Pro's in my house and this is just disappointing.

Yesteday i went to Apple Store in Boca Raton, FL to bring my Iphone 5S

it was freezing in the dialing screen at the Phone app (the core functionality of an iPhone!)

then to answer calls or make them took 30 seconds or more

I was entertained by these strange types who put working there, some tucked the hipsters and funky! who believe it is a great pleasure to spend hours of your day this crap store.

I have the devices by simply need to work, and I think an exercise in futility and uselessness spend the day smoothing this crap devices



After hours and very nervous, I exchange the unit for a new one! Lost my informations, photos, videos, contacts and SMS messages of 3 years on my clients, business and important information including, for use in court



I deliver a device of crap that has the problem on the screen, scrolling, navigation and etc.



Apple ha long ceased to be a competent company! The new IOS *****, the service is lousy in stores.



The Ideal is to take the case to courts, and make the company pay for damages caused
