IOS 7.1 creates scrolling problem?

Upgraded my UK iPhone 5S 64GB to ios 7.1 yesterday. I have been facing page scrolling problems in all applications (Bloomberg, BBC, Safari, FT, LinkedIn, FaceBook...all applications). The problem is easily reproduced by keeping your finger on the screen when the page to scroll is displayed and moving the finger slowly to scroll the page. The page jumps in direction opposite to the expected.

I do not usually reply to this kind of posts but now I've only created an account specifically for this. I have the same problem on my iPhone 5. The numerous bugs and problems created on older version phones by software update are intentional. Apple wants your phone not to work anymore so that you buy a new one after warranty has expired. It's a simple but dishonest business model.

I know this thread is fairly old, but I was having a scrolling problem on my iPhone SEVEN (iOS 10.3.3) so I decided to check it out and found this. It was an issue where I would put my thumb near the top of the screen, and swipe down to about halfway, to the middle of the screen. The phone's screen would then twitch up and down like crazy, while my thumb remained stationary. It happens with all apps. Safari, Chrome, certain games, Mail, Notes, Etc. Incredibly frustrating. But then I read your post and realized I keep my phone plugged in most of the time. When I unplugged it to test out the glitch, it wasn't present. So, thank you, you've saved me a lot of trouble with a possible malfunctioning (not to mention relatively new) phone. Anyone else having this issue, try unplugging the charger chord and see if that works.

I have this exact problem. Prior installing iOS 7.1 my iPhone 5s (16GB)

was fine. Now any scrolling results in jerky scrolling. It is a problem with ALL apps. (Safari, FB, PvZ2).

When I hold my finger down in Safari scrolling goes crazy. It seems like when scroll speed is zero you are dividing by zero which results in infinite scroll speed.

It's unusable.

Hey, I have an iPhone 5 64Gb just updated to iOS 7.1 (11D167) . Various apps all have the same scroll problem. It's amost like 1.5 cm from the the bottom of my screen, an invisable line across the phone where swiping across up or down causes the the normal smooth motion to be jumpy. This has only just happened after the latest iOS update. I have also noticed touch senstivity issues when using the keyboard in some older apps causing key strokes to be missed or even double pressed when only pressing once, and number keys to not work also. My current work around is to type the txt or numbers into notes app, then cut or copy the txt or numbers into the app i'm using. My other work around for the scroll issue, is to use asistive touch and create a scroll gesture.

Hope there is a fix for this soon. I'm not totally convinced this is a hardware issue. it's too coincidental these issues just happend to occur after the latest update. Gone through the normal power cycle, soft reboot holding home button and power button for 10 secs, but makes no difference.

I've turned back on the' automatically send' diagnostics & usage setting in general settings hoping this will contribute to a fix.

I have realised that this is a very serious issue. This affects every aspect of iPhone usage, not just when scrolling a page with text. This issue affects the basic touch-response function of iPhone. For example, if you activate the task switcher and scroll through tasks, the scrolling is not smooth. This applies to both - vertical and horizontal scroll. I have observed this issue in task switcher, photo gallery, phonebook, everywhere. Essentially the 7.1 upgrade has made my iPhone a very unexciting device to use.

Such defect in an Apple product is shocking.

There's more: This issue destroys the zoom functionality that requires multi-touch. If you pinch and zoom or unzoom and hold your 'pinch', the screen sharts shaking and then the image or text zooms to unpredictable size. This is a gaming-experience destroying issue. I hope Apple address this immediately.

Still an issue, would be great to have something official to recognize this.

My wife's iPhone 5S (32GB, 7.1) does not have this problem.

It is a problem with all multitouch gestures. As has been stated pinch to zoom is also broken and the gestures are broken in all apps. This also seems to be the same issue with multiple keyboard presses, e.g. pressing the 'e' key on the keyboard results in "eee".

This issue renders an iPhone unusable.
