Mar 17, 2014 7:51 AM in response to Lexiepexby MichelPM,I run Mavericks when I do not need to run Snow Leopard.
Silverlight in Mavericks is working fine on my 2009 iMac.
I use it to occasionally watch Netflix on my Mac when I am in my home design work space. Either working of doing other things where I am away from the main flat screen TV in my home.
Haven't noticed any issues with the Silverlight plugin or Netflix on Mavericks since I installed Mavericks when it first came out.
Do not know if the 10.9.2 release has caused an issue, but my iMac is still on OS X 10.9.1 currently running and things seen OK with Netflix. Hopefully, I am not just a minority of users not having this issue.
I use Mavericks right now for occasional use and to test out how well my workflow will be once I decide to make a permanent switch over to Mavericks.
I still rely quite heavily on Snow Leopard.
I haven't install the new Flip4Mac plugin for Mavericks, if there is one, so I cannot answer to that, as yet.
I keep having issues with VLC.
I have a bunch of older WMV movie files on my Mac and none of them seem to want to display the video.
Only the audio. Same in either SL or Mavericks.
Maybe my VLC version needs yet another update.

Mar 17, 2014 8:02 AM in response to MichelPMby Lexiepex,Hi Michel,
Silverlight seldom problems but not completely innocent either.
Flip4Mac seldom problems but not completely innocent either.
VLC, never sa any problems.
In any case you are in the mayority for Silverlight, Flip4Mac.
You are in the minority for VLC, try latest update?

Mar 17, 2014 8:17 AM in response to Lexiepexby MichelPM,I just updated VLC, I guess I was unaware I hadn't updated this in awhile.
I was still on a 1.x version.
Updated to the most recent version and it seems that my WMV files are viewable, now!
I haven't tried them all yet (I have about 3-4 dozen of these file type or so), but the ones I tested worked!!!
It's about time!!
VLC had given me problems like forever it seems.
It appears the last time I updated VLC was when I purchased and setup this this iMac. Sometime in mid 2012.
Ooouuuch!

Mar 17, 2014 8:34 AM in response to MichelPMby Lexiepex,Pfff Michel: not updated... in most apps there is an "automatically check for updates" feature in the settings, and so it is in VLC too...

Thank you very much for all your advise. I have carried out all that was suggested and will keep you posted as how it is going in a few days.
I also had the same problem as Michel with VLC and will be updating it to see if it works.
Kindest regards
