How to clear updated apps in IOS 7.0.6 (11B651)

I have an IPhone 4S, and I recently took the plunge and updated to IOS 7.0.6 (11B651). It is taking some getting used to, but overall it is decent. However, when I get app update notifications, and then update them, the apps stay in the update section of the app sotre.

They used to clear themselves out after they were updated. Now when I go to the update section, I have this super long list of updated apps with an "open" butten next to them. How do I get them cleared out like they used to? I tired swiping and pressing/holding down, but neither option seemed to clear them. Very irritating.
