Error 3194! Followed the onscreen instructions the whole way and my sons iPad is still disabled. Can anyone please help?

Hi, my son entered the wrong passcode on his iPad mini and has been locked out. I have connected to iTunes and attempted to restore. I get the error 3194 message. It redirects me to site recommending I need to restore my host files(?). I followed the 'fix it' for my relevant os (windows 7). I returned to iTunes hoping it would now restore but to no avail. Currently the iPad is 'disabled' and I'm losing the will to live. Can anyone baby-step me through this? Thanks in advance

Hello Stevrosbee,

It sounds like you are getting the error 3194 when trying to update your iPad:

User uploaded file

This occurs when iTunes is unable to communicate with the update-and-restore server (gs.apple.com). This is most likely because it is being blocked, redirected, or interrupted by security software, hosts-file entries, or other third-party software.

It sounds like you have followed the steps in the section titled "Check your hosts file" before you restored, but have you followed the steps in the section titled "Address TCP/IP filtering, firewall, or security software" to see if your security software could be causing the issue? If not, I recommend following those steps next:

iOS: Restore error 3194 or 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build'

Error 3194 is nothing but communication error of iTunes with the Apple update servers. There are many reasons for it , the usual ones are the Hosts file, firewall or antivirus software blocking iTunes etc.

Which is your iOS version? You need to know that Apple don't support old iOS after the release of new iOS, i think you are trying to restore your device to an older or unsupported version of iOS.
