iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation w/ Broken Cradle/Dock

I have an iPod Shuffle 2nd Generation - the iPod is fine, but the cradle/dock is broken. Apparently, the new charging/syncing cables for the 3rd and 4th generation don't work with the 2nd generation. Any suggestions or workarounds?

Thanks.

Apple still sells the replacement

It is somewhat expensive compared to getting a brand new 4th gen shuffle for $50. There are third-party replacements available from the usual online sources, such as eBay and Amazon. For example

http://www.amazon.com/SANOXY-Adapter-iPod®-Shuffle-Generation/dp/B000QHOB4S

Just make sure the product is described as being for the 2nd gen shuffle, not the later shuffles.
