As you can see flipboard is showing in control center, I did not put it there. does anyone know how to remove it ?

Usually that is where the name of the currently playing music is displayed. Have you tried playing something to see if it will change the display in the Control Center?
The is the song title you last played and paused.

I have the same question and the item being displayed is not the last song played - it is an app - and not even the last app used. How can it be removed?
I have this problem also. I downloaded USA Today and it placed a "Short Cut" in my Control Center. I don't know how to remove it. Deleting the app removes it but I'd like to keep the app and delete the "Short Cut". Anyone know how to remove this?
