If it happens again perhaps there is a problem with your hard drive.
In that case you could try using Disk Utility (it's in Applications > Utilities) to try to repair your LaCie and also repair permissions on it.
If that doesn't work you may have to reformat (erase) the LaCie.
If you have any LaCie "utilities" or other apps on your mac, don't use them.
