mouse left click

selecting an area to copy or delete on any app is ignored by the computer on the first and second try. I hold down by clicking on the left mouse, and drage up or down to select an area is ignored or not recognized by the computer. This hapen all the time on any aplication or text area.

I have an Imac 27"- running maverick..and the mac keyword and mouse wireless. Software is up to date..Any help with this?
