what do i need to play avi format
I have a dvd in AVI format. What codac do i need to play it on quicktime?

It's impossible to tell based on only 'avi', which is a container and not a format, but is most likely to be part of Perian. It's also possible that there is no Mac OS X codec capable of reading that specific AVI.
