SLOW SCROLLING - 5th Gen iPod is WAY slower than iPod Photo

My newest iPod (the 5th Gen 60G iPod Video) is a real dog compared to the last iPod Photo I had. It scrolls so bloody slowly thru menus, song lists, and particularly when you are flipping thru a song's screens to get to the rating screen or album art screen. It'll take 5-9 seconds (and thats a freaking ETERNITY these days) to load the album art on the opening screen of a song, and another 5-10 seconds to flip thru the next screens to get to the rating screen (it usually pauses between screens, with half of one and half of the next one showing, and then it eventually flips over to the one you asked for). IS THIS JUST A LIMITATION OF THE NEW iPODS, AND THEY'RE ALL THAT SLOW (maybe they have too much data to process or something), OR DO I HAVE SOME KIND OF SOFTWARE DEFECT OR CORRUPTION THAT COULD BE FIXED WITH A RESET (which I don't want to do if I don't have to . . . 58G of songs and video takes a lonnnnnng time)?? Any advice would be helpful . . . before I broom the 5th Gen and just go back to my old one

I have updated it a number of times with the latest updater and newest software version (no improvement), and have been reluctant to reset because there's 55 gig of stuff on there . . . but it sounds like it is a unique software glitch or corruption on my unit and NOT a characteristic of all 5th Gen iPods. Thanks for the input - that helps a lot. Off to reset!
