iMac 27" mid 2011 - only getting a hissing sound out of right hand side JBL Creature speaker. I swopped with a different set of speakers but they have same problem. Then I checked the JBL speakers on my iPhone and they work fine so I have narrowed the problem down to iMac software or audio port hardware - There is no issue with the inbuilt speakers. I checked Balance in system preferences > Sound and also settings in Audio Midi Setup but all seem fine so it looks like a hardware problem. The funny thing is that for 1/2 a second after plugging the speaker audio cable in the speakers work fine before the rhs one stops and starts low hiss. Is there anything I can do to fix this (without having to lug the iMac to a city centre Apple Store)?RegardsRichard
