I have exactly the same issue. I was using strongvpn without issue but after upgrading to ios 7.1 the speed is too slow to use iplayer or sky go. I'm only getting 150kbps now compared with 4.5 Mbps before.

I have a similar issue. I use TV abroad VPN and since the upgrade the speed when using VPN is drastically less than it was. I have spoken to the VPN company and they have had a lot of complaints from iPAD users.

Apple, you have a bug, please fix it....

I managed to speak to a senior advisor today. They know of the issue and it is being worked on with a high priority. No further information available at this time:(

    This is good eddie.

As a former Head of Technical Services in a national organisation, I can say that all customers (Corporate or Private) respect a company (Apple) who treats customers with due repect and urgency when their products fall short of expectations.

Personally I think that expecting your customer to "Pay" for the opportunity to give you valuable feedback on your quality problem, is not a quick path to resolving quality issues and only leaves them feeling dissatisfied (why should they pay ??), because they are giving you valuable information - in your own interest for product development.

Invite constructive criticism - Value it and take to the top decison and development levels.

As one of thousands of VPN user on iPad this problem is highly significant

We want you guys to stay at the cutting edge, and Quality Assurance Systems (testing of software updates before release) and quickly resolving issues that have arisen.  THESE ARE HIGH VALUE ADDED ITEMS when the decision is taken on purchases.

Put these systems in place and Audit Them and your reputation will be enhanced by end user satisfaction.

I went through the normal support process,  and insisted on speaking to a senior person. Give them their due they got some one on the line and I got the information I needed.

It would have been better that they were up front about the issue.

So fingers crossed, a fix will come soon.

P.s. I did not have to pay:)

I have the smae problem, after I installed the upgrade IOS7.1 on Ipad 2, the VPN speed has dropped to almost a dial up speed. It is almost unusable!!! I contact strong VPN and they told me that it is the IOS7.1 upgrade.

    Apple - shame on you

Even though it is seeminly an issue with Apple I thought it worthwhile to alert my VPN provider (Identity Cloaker) - glad I did as they have provided provided a workaround. IPad 2 works faultlessly now.

  • kingas32 Level 1 (0 points)

What was the workaround they provided? Can you share the details? Thanks.

  • FinVic Level 1 (0 points)

Could you post the workaround instructions here?  I'm not having any luck with the suggestions given by my VPN service provider.  This issue has been a real pain. Thanks.

  • eyzerac Level 1 (0 points)

Sorry, the solution is specific to Identity Cloaker Server; basically the only difference I noticed in the instructions given by IC is that in the VPN set up on the ipad the Server was changed so I guess if your provider has the option of different Servers then opting for a different Server may resolve it.

    Good Luck

Are you connecting under the L2TP tab or under the PPTP tab? Did the change involve using a different server name or did you go from a server name to an IP address? Thanks.

  • eyzerac Level 1 (0 points)

Under L2TP tab and different server (was uk8 now uk12)

    RSA secure ID is OFF

    SEND all Traffic is ON

    PROXY is OFF

    Hope this helps.

  • The Borginsteiner Level 1 (0 points) there any update on this issue? I wish I had never updated to 7.1, valuble lesson learnt here - COME ON APPLE sort it out......

  • Raffiq06 Level 1 (0 points)

Thanks, hope Apple should provide fix ASAP, without knowing this I bought vpn from different providers and alast got doubt while the same connection gives 2mbps in iPhone 5 but 0.35 Mbps max in ipad3 after this iOS 7.1 upgrade.

    Apple fix it soon :)
