after upgrade my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.1 I have no Wifi, after wake up from sleep!!

Hi,

after upgrade my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.1 I have no Wifi, after wake up from sleep!! It takes several minutes until it workes proberly again. I was yesterday already in the Apple store and they made a service install of iOS 7.1, where the complete iOS was installed new instead of just updating it. Also the settings menu is not reacting during this time. somtimes the complete iOS is not reacting. If this occures only a hard rest is solving and then the Wifi stack is working well until is sleeps again. Then the problem starts again.

Does anyone raised already a ticket at apple or has a solution? A downgrade to 6.1.3 is not possible/allowed, but this would help.

I had the same problem and these are the steps I used to fix my wifi from not working. I found this on the net so this is not mine. I did 1-3 and then mine started working and so far so good:

1- iPhone WiFi issues? Reboot your device!

Well, I assume most of you have already tried that but in case you haven’t, simply press and hold the power key along with Home button until you see the Apple logo appearing again. If it solves the iPhone WiFi issues, congratulations. You had it the easiest way!

2- Reset network settings:

Resetting network helps in some 60 – 70% of cases suffering from iPhone WiFi issues. Go to Settings > General > scroll down to Reset, and thentapon Reset Network Settings. If you are on a secure network, it will ask you pass keys.

3- Check router:

Perhaps the issue is not with your iOS 7 updated device, but your internet connection? Before proceeding to the next fix, make sure your network is working fine and so is the router / modem. Try same network on your other devices to ensure that it is working fine.

If all is good with network and network equipment, proceed to the very last option.

4- Restore iPhone – Gah!

If you don’t seem to solve the iPhone WiFi issue using any of the above checkups, final resort is to reset your Apple iPhone. Resetting Apple device sort of cleanses your device so it will come out all clean and error-free like new.

To reset your iOS 7 device, head over to Settings > General > Reset, and tap on the Reset All Settings. You can also reset your device from iTunes. The option Restore iPhone will show up once you connect your device with the computer.

I too have just started having this problem with my 4s after updating to the newest firmware (7.1). I spent about 7 hours yesterday, trying all of the solutions presented on this problem.

I have come to the realization that this has got to be a Firmware Update caused problem. My Wife, Luckily hasn't updated her 4s.

We have 2 iPod touch 3rd gen., 1 iPhone 3GS , 2 iPhone 4s, and 2 iPad 4. My 4s is the only device that was updated, and now my iPhone is the only Device that the Wifi won't connect to the Network.

I'm very Frustrated right now, and want a solution to this problem...sooner, rather than later.

Same problem here on iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1. All the suggestions about restarting routers and phones can make it appear to be fixed but it's not long before the trouble staying connected begins again. Other wireless devices on the router are not having any problems, this is an iPhone/iOS problem and it needs to be addressed soon. Losing Wi-Fi connection when the device is sleeping/idle is completely unacceptable.

As a follow-up: On Monday, April 24, I came to work and had no problems accessing the campus (UCLA) wi-fi. When I got home that evening, lo and behold, I had no problem with my home wi-fi. HOWEVER, this morning when I got up, the connectivity was LOST AGAIN!!! But when I got back to work, no problem. Sounds like the problem is squarely in Apple's court with iOS 7.1. Let's hope that they fix it sooner rather than later!

FOUND A WORK-AROUND!!!

My iPhone 5s and iPad 2 both have iTunes Wi-Fi Sync enabled. I think this is where the problem is occuring. The 5s works fine at 7.1 with IWS enabled, however the iPad doesnt, so what I did is simply turn off the wifi on the iPad 2 an quit itunes and reopen it, and tada!!! iPad is now showing on iTunes.

I dont know if this will work on windows, but this does work on iTunes 11.5 on Mavericks.

There was not a problem with the router. I have several other non-apple devices (wired and wireless) connected to my router which still worked perfectly fine before the reboot. The issue was exclusively with the iphones post 7.1 update.

I find it strange that only my apple devices stopped working on wifi after the 7.1 update.

No, the problem was with your router.

1. Your iPhone would not connect to your home wi-fi.

2. You rebooted your home w-fi router.

3. Your iPhone now connects to your home wi-fi.

This means the issue was with your router understanding the new protocols (or 'language') of the iOS 7.1 device. Sometimes it means you need to update the firmware of your router. And some routers have problems recognizing a 'old' device properly when it starts running a 'new' operating system. In other words, your router got confused, and rebooting it 'cleared it's head'.

Correct me if I am wrong but you seem to be saying that it is incumbent upon router manufacturers to accomodate some proprietary communication protocols implemented by Apple in iOS 7.1. My router is less than one year old and supports the most widely implemented Wi-Fi protocols defined by IEEE 802.11 so perhaps I'm a bit silly but I feel that I should NOT have to restart my router daily in order for my iOS device to talk to it. I respectfully disagree with your assessment -- It's an iOS problem regardless whether rebooting my router fixes it temporarily because ALL of the other IEEE 802.11 compliant devices in my home have no problem whatsoever with my router.

after upgrade my iPhone 4S to iOS 7.1 I have no Wifi, after wake up from sleep!!
