Will Find My Mac works without Recovery Partition??

Hi i just bought a secondhand Macbook Pro 13' Mid 2012.. There's no iCloud account sign in.. And there's no Recovery partition.. I dare to update my current Maverick 10.9.1 to 10.9.2 because i'm afraid it'll lock to Find My Mac... Actually i did ask whether he use iCloud or not, but i'm still not sure to OTA update.. Can anyone tell me, if there's no Recovery Partition that means the machine didnt use Find My Mac right?? And how to check wether the machine is using iCloud or Find My mac service??

You bought a machine that held an OS upgrade "purchased" (even though it is free) by a different owner (Apple ID).

You can't update it or its software and need to restore it to its "original shipping OS" so future downloads are under your ID.

The owner said he didnt use iCloud and Find My Mac services.. Only Sign in to MAS and I have sign it in my ID into the machine before downloaded the update, i mean i uses my ID to download the software update not the owner ID.. So it is okay to update?? Will it require the owner ID password or lock to Find My Mac after update..

Well... i dun really want to clean install my mac.. I'm not free to do that.. I need to work with my mac everyday..
